“Forerunner 405CX”
Garmin Forerunner 405CX Ratings Score:
3.79 out of 5 (567 reviews)
- records your time, distance, pace and heart rate
- connects with satellite quickly
- ability to set up interval workouts
- customizable screens
- wireless ANT+ easily syncs data with your computer
- Garmin Connect – a website that allows data uploading, analysis, reports and more. View maps, goals and share data with friends or training partners. Garmin Connect seems to be preferred by users to the Garmin software that also works with this watch.
- backlight is good
- rechargeable battery
- power saver mode
- touch bezel control – Although some users like it, many find it too sensitive, making setup difficult or accidental screen scrolling during workout. Considering the overall reviews, we believe most users tolerate this as a minor inconvenience, but some did find it to be completely unacceptable. Take a look at the video below to get a better look at how it works.
- some Mac users complained about computer sync and software, but Garmin did update and many Mac users are reporting success.
- need to purchase foot pod and/or cadence sensor if working out indoors or in difficult satellite reception areas.
- thick and bulky, especially for smaller wrists
- sweat causing touch bezel to lock-up (wiping off apparently corrects the problem)
- setup can be tricky
One thing we noticed from the Garmin Forerunner 405CX reviews that we read, is that most people either loved this watch or hated it. Although they acknowledge some of the noted Cons, most users found them to be minor compared with the overall benefits of the watch. On the other side, there are a few people that find it unusable. Most of those complain about the touch bezel control or problems connecting to the computer. Our guess is that if you take time to read the instructions and get familiar with this watch, you will probably end up loving it. However, if you tend to have problems with technology and have never sent a text message, you may not want to jump in at this level or at least you should try to put your hands on one before ordering.
